Trim around wheel openings?

What does every one think about the trim pieces around the wheel openings on early cars. Mine are a little rough(after only 33 years). I like the look without. It's going to be a driver when finished.
Regards
Kevin

They were an option, right? I have them on my 70 S, with all the chrome window & lower S trim I think they look good. If you are going for that boy-racer, minimalist look, I'd forget them. Also a potential PITA if you are upsizing tyres....
