Has anyone opened/rebuilt a denso a/c compressor? Help me understand...
Hi all
I'm rebuilding my 10P series Denso compressor. As I was getting ready to reassemble I was cleaning parts with some low VOC brake cleaner and the paint (or rubber like coating?) from this part (#15) started to peel. The parts diagram calls it "metal gasket - rear". I honestly do not have a good notion of what it does. My instinct was to strip all the coating from it so that it does not continue to dislodge and clog the system. If anyone has a better understanding of what the part does and if the coating is integral to that, please tell. Part of me is tempted to shelve the thing and buy a re-man compressor, but I am frankly unsure of the quality of those units, mostly from places like 4 Seasons. I searched and asked and can find virtually no replacement internal metal parts for these old compressors, just the the seals. Thanks... ![]() ![]() ![]()

I attempted to rebuild, did it successfully and wound up buying a brand new one, not rebuilt.
IMHO, I would not use the one you have opened up.

Meaning... your rebuilt but still bought new? Where did you find a new 10P for sale? I'm coming up with mostly off brand re-man.
