No pickleFork noProblem
'86 Carrera Coupé. Getting into a rack rebuild, tie rod and ball joint replacement. No tie rod removal tool, no pickle fork. I've been channeling my inner-AvE and thought, "I don't need a tool for this." One 19mm box wrench, one chisel, one BFH, no problem.
1. Cut the rubber ball joint to make room between metal surfaces. 2. 19mm box wrench under the flat surface of the nuckle. 3. Chisel under box wrench. 4. BFH. 5. A few hits (not too hard) and Bob's your uncle. (Optional apply heat from heat gun) http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1525828978.JPG |
You can just wack the end of the arm with a BFH and they pop out nicely.

Small puller works great

I use pullers, less problem that way
