KJ, I'm a Kiwi, so I'm pretty rough.

But what I do if it's only surface rust and the brake lines are fine. I scrub them down with a scotchbrite and fishoiline oil ( https://www.1stopbuild.com/goods-45651.html ) then clean them with paint thinners and put on some of that rust convter stuff. I let that cure then put on some Fishoiline.

The repair places always want to put a join in and I see that as a point of failure other than the original minor rust problem.

Just my opinion.

They don't look compromised at all. i'd do the above mentioned clean and keep a bit of fishoiline or similar on them. they may be a PITA to undo at sometime, but worry about it then.

Again, just my opinion. The other guys may have some better ideas.

Where are you in Sydney, I'm a bit of a fan of the place?
