911 SC Heater Hose
New guy here who has just inherited a 1983 911SC that overall is in very good condition. Motor is strong with no oil leaks. It will need a new front suspension pan, but that will happen this winter.
Right now I am trying to give it a little TLC. I have started replacing heater hoses, but the one that appears to be so elusive is the long one that goes from the left side of the engine at the heater blower and runs across the fan shroud and down under the A/C bracket where it connects to a reducer before it goes to the heat exchanger. Talking with Pelican sales via email, they do not currently have what I am looking for. The part # that they originally gave me is too short. I have attached a photo and you can see the aluminum tube, but even it appears that it was put togther using two pieces. You can see where it is crushed on the right side. I would love to back date this so you did not have to see the hose, but I am not sure that the plate would fit under the a/c bracket. Thoughts? If anyone knows where I can get this part, preferably better than the OEM paper version as it appears to be poorly made I would appreciate it. ![]()

I replaced all of mine with SCAT hose from aircraftspruce.com. Looks better, lasts longer and is easier to work with. SCAT and SCEET hose is higher temp, red and good up to 550F+. They also have CAT and CEET hose, which is black and good up to 350F+. Either should be fine for that hose you're talking about.
Check here if you're interested: Ducting from Aircraft Spruce My heat system has been backdated so I don't have that hose, but here is what the SCAT looks like on mine: ![]()

Zim's Autotechnik Heater Hose, 60mm, 911
SCAT AIRCRAFT DUCTING from Aircraft Spruce SCEET AIRCRAFT DUCTING from Aircraft Spruce Not sure if backdating would interfere w/AC (I deleted AC), but you'll need these heater ducts: http://www.partsheaven.com/parts/Heater_ducts_both.jpg

Thanks for the replies. That is exactly what I am looking for. I really would love to backdate my heater setup, but right now I am not willing to give up the a/c in this TX heat!
![]() It is a nicer look with the backdating...

I'm using this really nice black aluminum hose for my SC backdate with SSIs. The heat is enough to make popcorn at your feet! LOL Being Colorado, I could easily live with the A/C delete which I did this spring. Really cleans up the engine bay!
Cheers, - CraigD ![]() ![]()

Air pump - studs?
Not to hijack this thread, but for those who backdated, how did you handle the threaded studs left remaining when you pulled your air pump? Remove studs for bolts? Get a nut on the thread?

My shop pulled the studs for shorter ones, and then put nuts on. It's really clean and the way to go.
Cheers, - CraigD

It is "Heater Blower Hose" part #911 211 522 00 Apparently they ordered it from: WORLDPAC 7477 E.Dry Creek Pkwy, Suite 1 Longmont, CO 80503 It was around $35 for about four feet. It's a fantastic replacement for the cardboard looking hose, however there are two diameters for the cardboard hose. This diameter is 2 1/2 inches. Hope this helps. Cheers, - CraigD

Oh and jmccam, here's a pic of my original setup, with the A/C and the heater motor with the black aluminum tubing and a step down connector. This would look good on your motor.
Cheers, - CraigD ![]()

Thanks to everyone for their input. Just thought I would show the finished product. I decided to go with Aircraft Spruce hoses.

Looks good! What size hose did you order (dia and length please). Doesn't look like you went with the step down configuration,

That was going to be my question as well, 2.5 inch hose?

Actually, I did go with the step down. The hose running across the fan shroud goes under the A/C bracket where it connects to the step down adapter and then into the larger hose running to the heat exchanger.
The larger hose is a shade bigger than stock just because they did not have the exact diameter I was looking for. The original hose was 2 3/8" diameter and the new hose is 2 1/2" in diameter. I had to compress it just a little to get it through the hole leading to the heat exchanger but it was no problem at all. This stuff is very flexible and has a high heat tolerance up to 550 degrees. The smaller hose running across the fan shroud is the stock diameter size at 2" in diameter. I order 6ft of the 2 1/2" and cut it to size using my old hoses and I order 4 ft of the smaller. I did not need that much but it gave me some wiggle room. ![]() See the additional photos below. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

It is the dreaded battery corrosion. It ate completely through the battery tray area and then right through the suspension pan. Pretty nasty!
I am going to attempt to fix it this spring if funds allow. |

What about the larger black hose to the blower motor? Did you use aircraft grade or buy a Porsche specific part?
