For the ones who have lowered their cars

My car is sitting at 24” all around and it is due for alignment hopefully today.
What I found after lowering is that the car is bouncing a lot especially at the front .
I am reading I need bump steer kit which I will order.
Is this normal behaviour when you lower the car and is the kit going to fix the problem?

I find it hard to believe anyone can drive these cars in this condition on a Regular day, unless something is wrong with mine.

Thank you

Hi your car is pretty much way too low...The shock absorbents will do no work for you basically do nothing ..unless this is what you desire....

in reference to the pic, your car is very low.

in three attemps I reset my ridehight to what ssem a bit higher than yours, aprox 1 inch, which I think is optimum max.

my figures now are:
front, 63cm (fenderlip to floor, camber -1,4
rear, 62cm (fenderlip to floor, camber -1

tires/rims are:
front 7x16/205-55
rear 8x16/225-50

all 4 fenderlips rolled

no bump steer kit needed.

As others have said youa re too low. The front gets on the bump stops in the front struts quick. You need to go up. The only cure for this is shocks with raises spindles. They are not uncommon for lowered 911’s, but even then I am not sure you can get quite that low.

Mine are both pretty low, not as low as yours. One of mine even has coil overs, and both scrape in street use in places. I would start at euro ride height, or the settings above from Flo, no lower than his.

It will depend on the suspension
Bilsteins w/o bump stops allow a lower car, and there are special Bilsteins that allow even lower(B8/RSR), t-bars also factor in

w/ Bilsteins(HD front/Sport rear) and even slightly stiffer t-bars(at least 21/26 ala SC/RS) you can run around where Flojo's is, ~24.8" front The back wants to be ~ .5" lower. This should give a little rake, For less rake lower the back another 1/8" for more raise it the same.

Do use rack spacers

I'm close to your height 24.5"Ft and 25" Re. But I have the 19mm raised spindles and short body rear shocks. Both have sport valving to slow the wheel rate quicker. This is a must to keep a close to factory ride feel and be that low. The ride is firmer, not harsh. I take 5hr road trips with no complaints.
I would assume your shocks are bottoming on up travel giving you that bounce

Thank you everyone.
I agree, it is too low, not for looks but for driving.
New plan of attack is to raise it but will have to fight the stuck torsion bar to the spring plate.

What is the best way to fight this beast?
I appreciate your feedback.

is the bar stuck in the tube or stuck to the spring plate?

if a) shock-pull it out
if b) drill a centered hole in the cap, flood with caramba, wait a night, then tap it out next morning

remember to lube well when reasembling.

^^^ HEAT. Everything on these cars needs heat to remove and Anti-Seize when reassembling.

it's b, i can pull out the bar with the spring plate stuck on it and that side gives me smaller increments. with the center side i get either too high or too low, i need middle.

yes, adjusting the rear is calculation counterclockwise needed.
inside has 40 tooth, outside has 41 tooth

this graph shows lowering about 2 cm. you'll have to do the opposite.

so to be sure:
inner one to the right, outer one to the left to lower 2cm?
I have to do the opposite to raise it.
I think raising it 1.5cm would be perfect. does that mean, outer one to the right and no inner?

Yes Marge, there is a thing as going too low (rendering your suspension useless) and you are there. In design there is a well used phrase which is the gold standard, “form follows function”. Unfortunately you have it backwards, but can be easily corrected.

The low rider rides a little higher....

Don’t worry about drilling the end cap as Flojo suggests. It might be the least expensive suspension part
