Driver's door wont lock
Hi everyone - new to the forum and 911 ownership. Searched the forums but cant resolve symptoms:
1) Drivers door will not lock with key, passenger door locks 2) Both doors will lock manually when inside the car, doors closed 3) CLS light is on all the time when ignition is on 4) You can hear the CLS system activate when using the key - passenger locks, drivers does not 5) CLS activates when you push button - you can hear it and nothing happens 6) All original wiring and factory alarm system Thanks everyone, thrilled in first month of ownership a 30 year dream realized. 1987 911 turbo - stock, Venetian Blue, Blue Interior David |

Welcome Aboard Brother 3.2 David,
Manual Key vs CLS. I will only address issues that I can tell from your post: 1. So even on p-side the lock on d-side will not lock using the key? Roll down the d-side window and use dial to manually lock it then use key to unlock it, Did that work? Yes, it can not be locked prior to or when door is closed from d-side. I guess PAG decided to do this to prevent lock outs. Very annoying. 3. There is a short in the system, with headlights off that should be off. 4. I went thru this 6+ years ago, my issue was the driver side wire to the plunger was severed and grounding out on the door. You see there is micro switch on top of the tumbler area of he door handle, via a white signal wire, it sometimes gets dislodged and rubs against the metal via the door trigger and lock that locks and unlocks the latch and same component plunges into the latch release. Over time that wire will wear and then ground out or your micro switch is dislodged, the housing is plastic and very brittle. If micro switch is broken off, no worries you can use couple of small zip ties to fasten it on again :-) or buy new ones. 5. If system is shorted, you will get zero response, time to open up d-side panel.

thank you both for your quick responses.
1) Yes - d-side will not work even from passenger side. Yes manual lock and key unlock works - just wont pull it down again to key lock on the drivers side. So it does seem mechanical there. 3) Agree this one is weird that at the same time as the issue started the CLS light is on all the time (as you suggested a short rather than mechanical) I think you are right I may need to pull the door panel and see what is going on. Thanks again! D |

Thanks everyone -
1) Yes I can unlock with key from both sides if I manually lock. I can reach into passenger side and lock door manually, at least can leave locked for now. It is the unlocking - suggesting mechanical as you noted. 3) This is the unusual part that this CLS light came on when issue started - on all the time suggesting an electrical issue. I think may be time to open up panel. Thanks again everyone, D |

Thanks everyone! - apologies if multiple posts, having trouble replying.
1) Yes - this works. Seems like a mechanical issue locking on D-Door 3) The CLS light is strange and lit up only when door issue began (suggesting more than a mechanical issue..) I will need to pull the panel at some stage and see what is going on. For now I can lock by reaching across from passenger side. Thanks again, D |
