Question I need some opinions

Guys and Gals

I bought a 77s back in December knowing at some point I'll have to paint the car. What I'm faced with is the car was originally brown and changed to red and done quite well so my question is do I stay red or go to the expense to change back to the original color ? I work hard for my money and I'm thrilled to have the car I have but common sense tells me it is still a 77s and you should only go so far ! Opinions please

Thanks
Jim

It's your call

and you will have the ultimate decision.
Probably depends on how original you want it to be.
I was not concerned about keeping mine authentic.
My '74 2.7 was originally brown but I wanted
red...have not been sorry.

my opnion is in the minority around here.. Red is the most striking color.. so that also means the PD can pick you out of traffic at a mile away.. and if you have the cork interior.. so if you decide to return to "brown" .. eyeball the paint code on the left front door jam.. it may be #432[Copper Brown Metallic].. the up-graded color, IMO, is #443[Copper Brown Metallic] found on the SC.. the color is extraordinary in a quiet way.. so I think the question is a personal one on how much attention you want.. IMO, the best no-ticket color would blend into the roads, maybe flat black..

Paint it whatever color you like. Just remeber you get what you pay for, and you're probably never going to see all the money you sink into a car again.

Hey, Ron, that's the Superstition Mts, right? I live about 15 minutes directly behind where you stood to take that photo.

If the paint is well done and you like the red, then keep it. When your car is in need of paint or you go for a total retore at some point then you can always change back.

Envy

Think I'll paint mine green for my envy of you guys.
Hey DD, I did 4 years in Tucson a long time ago,
working for Channel 3 when it was owned by Gene
Autry. Great country. I was out in Mt. Zion and Brice
Canyon last summer.

Hey Jim,

What do you like? I doubt that you will be taking it to Pebble Beach anytime soon, so paint the car the color that you like. This whole thing about Porsche Ownership is what you want. Some for fun, some for 99.9% originality. My old '72 was a horrid green gold color that I didn't like, nor did the owner(s) before me. Mine was grn/gold, then Red, then Guards Red, and I painted it Black after a down to bare metal restoration.

If you feel good about a quick repaint, nobody should look down their nose at a budget job, it may be all one can afford. But if you want a dream machine, save the coins for awhile and do a real nice restoration job.

Yep, Ron's car's color is gorgeous. Just about exactly the same color as mine (smoky quartz metallic). I'm not a brown person, and would not have chosen this color, but Ron and I know how handsome it is and how versatile. It is invisible to cops. Needs no washing. Daytime appearance and nighttime appearance are very different.

Super's post is not BS. every word is true. we are so serious about this color that we had to put the cars together to confirm.. because mine is not the stock color.. Super's is
