my 930 AC build

I was trying to keep this a secret from my brother since he does not have AC and I wanted to surprise him but he found out.
Me and my 2 brothers are planning a road trip in 2 weeks, one had a 911 but now has a Z4, the other has a 930 and so do I
.
I replaced all the hoses about 2yrs ago, had all 3 coils pressure tested but when I went to charge it the rear cond still had a leak(back then). I was really wanting to find an original read cond (very cheap) just to do a test of how well I could get the factory AC to work. Well with the hot trip coming up I decided to get off the $$ and buy Griffiths rear cond.

First problem I ran into was fit(not his fault). It was just barely rubbing on my RUF IC.
I ended up removing the rear wing and moving the mounting tabs over about ¼ inch.
That problem is solved.

Got that in and put in 375psi of nitrogen. IT STILL HAS A LEAK!!
I checked and rechecked all my connections looking for the leak. I sniffed them, bubbled them and now have put in dye. Pumped back up to 375 and I still cant find it.
Time to pull the cover off the evap. Sure enough one of the outside tubes is leaking.
Time to order cond and evap. So much for having them pressure tested.

Everything will be new except the comp. I did check it for leaks and it is good. The car only had 40k on it when I bought it and it had lots of leaks. the car also came from up north so I don’t think the ac was used much. good news is the comp does work. I ran it to disperse the dye

Garage
Hoses develop pin holes and hairlines cracks after so many years. Tough to spot under the car and up into the smuggler’s box. Tough to spot a leak in the evaporator without cleaning it out.

Assuming your system is basically the same as my 84 3.2, there is no low pressure cutoff switch. I would suggest adding one or even better if you've converted to R134a, would be to add a high/low cutoff switch to the system.

My latest goodies.
A little advise. I spent 3 days, not full days, chasing air leaks.
375psi with 134 and a sniffer. Bubbles. Then dye. Wish I had not done dye, but. On the end I just went in ahead and replace the other 2 coils, already had the Rea as I new the old one had a leak.
Just replace them all. As said did the hoses a few years back.

I am not expecting a lot from this ac, not freezing me out at stop lights. Just want to stay cool driving
