Grille badge update (they're done!)
edit: scroll down to see my latest post ->
Hi all, Nope, I haven't forgotten about the grille badges. Things have gotten a little more complicated than I expected, however. Like I said in an earlier post, the response to the badges has been more than overwhelming. This, however, puts the badges in competition with our normal job shop work, which, unlike many CNC shops right now, is booming. Long story short: it's been more difficult than I thought to schedule machine time. Solution: I've placed an official purchase order with my boss (funny, since those PO's go directly to me!). The production schudule looks like I can fit them in starting next Tuesday. I figure two days machine time; anodizing takes another four days. I should be able to start shipping a week from Tuesday. I'm sorry about the delay, but I'm learning that taking a product(?) from conception to completion is a lot more involved than I could have imagined. I've always been on the manufacturing end of things, and maybe have taken too much for granted. For those of you who have emailed or PMed me personally, I have all of the info compiled in a database and will send an update in a few days. I'm setting up a Paypal account to handle transfer of funds. It took longer than I expected, but the ball is rolling! Thanks Jim...
I for one am not complaining about the delay. Take your time... your badges will soon be sitting on a bunch of Pelicanite cars real soon. That will be very cool. -Doug

Jim, If your CNC is booked, I have one that is sitting idle. I could run some too to help you out. E-mail me privately so we can figure this out.
Cheers, James

Hi all,
Well, production is done! The 3.0, 3.2, and 3.6 badges went to the anodizer today! The few custom badges are done as well, but the anodizer pick up/delivery guy showed up an hour earlier than usual (urrrggh!), so they go Tuesday. Shipping will start Tuesday for the "normal" badges, and Thursday for the custom ones. Gotta say, they look pretty cool. This project has been a bit more involved than I initially thought, but now that I've seen the result, I'm glad I did it. Pics hopefully by the weekend, (still haven't bought a digicam, so I've got to wait for film to be developed), and Paypal info soon. Cheers and thanks for being patient, Jim |
