Paint code help
Im trying to order touch-up paint, but cant find this code anywhere. 396-9-3 is stamped on the tag. Anybody know what color this is?
Thanks guys |
Paintscratch.com doesn't list the 396 for 1980. It does have a 376 (petrol blue metallic clearcoat) for the 1980 year. Are you sure it is a 9 and not a 7. What colr is the car now.
|
Its definitely 396.....hhmmmm. Strange.
I attempted to take a pick but they cam out unreadable. I checked archives here, paintscratch...etc. nothing. Well thanks anyway. Ill call a bodyshop suppley and see what they say. |
What color does the car look like now?
|
I just got off the phone with Sherwin Williams auto paint div.
The nice lady told me that the factory occasionally makes mistakes when stamping the code. So it has to be petrol..?? I guess its close? Heres the link http://www.owners-gallery.com/gallery.asp?sort=0&userid=641 |
I have ordered from paintscratch.com with great results. If unsure, just order the color paint pen and clear coat pen to make sure. It will not set you back that much.

The only code I can find in 1980 that starts with a 3 are
387 341 3OT 31G Good luck Bryan |
Bizare huh?!
I took it to 2 diff. places yesterday (autopaint (Tacoma), and sherwin williams). Neither could figure it out. The car has been painted, but the original color was used. I can see a couple of tape lines under the hood where the original "faded" paint is. The Petrol was too green so I dont really no what to do now. Thanks again guys |
If your going to be in the Auburn area tomorrow I can take a a pic of it a mix you some paint or maybe find the code for you.

Does anyone know what the name of paint code 396-9-3 is? Pacific blue metallic? Prussian blue? Night blue metallic? I have seen another 80SC with that tag and can’t find a record of that paint code anywhere.
