Zenith 40 TIN — Float Needle Valve Question
Hoping some of you who have rebuilt your Zenith 40 TIN carbs can help answer a question about the float needle valves.
Rebuilding and resetting my Zenith 40 TIN carburetors for my 1971 911 T Targa. Thanks to this forum I was able to supplement the kit with the correct o-rings and also source new venturi and jets from Italy. THANK YOU! The question is about the Float Needle Valves that come in the kit. They are a different design than what is already inside my carbs. Is it OK to use these new float needle valves on a 1971 T 2.2 or should I leave the old float needle valves in place? Thanks in advance for any and all responses. ![]() ![]()

Your old ones were not Solex needle valves, they were a common aftermarket replacement called "Grose Jets" The big selling point was they used two balls to make the seal. Your call, you can put in the old ones and see if levels set correctly, if you don't like them then use the new Solex.
