Today’s installment of “What is this thing?”
82 SC
I noticed two disconnected wires in my engine compartment today. Seem to come out of a wiring harness on the left side of the engine shroud over near the WUR. Two wires with round connectors. Colors are brown (ground? Could also be dark orange) and red with a white stripe. See pic below. Any idea what these should be attached to? ![]() |

It’s not a ROW car, and I don’t think it would reach to the rear bumper area for fog lights. Seems like it has to be for something related to the engine.

Wires are for the euro version vacuum switch. Not used on US Lambda cars.
Normally in a black connector and taped up on US cars. The red white wire is “hot” with ignition on, so tape it off and make it secure. The brown is ground, so keep it isolated from the other wire.

^What Timmy2 said. Tape them off, or better yet use heat shrink tubing to isolate.
These are used on my wife’s 79 and i recently had to get the housing for those connectors, part # 999-652-370-40.

Thanks guys. I did as you suggested and taped them off. I will have to grab some heat shrink tubing in the future to make it look better.
