Engine Compartment Missing???
So I am the proud new owner of my first 1979 SC (minus the engine) and I have already made some nice friends on this site. I bought an engine from I wuv DaPorsches and I am getting the engine compartment ready for it. Can someone send me a picture of what the drivers side of the compartment should look like? I think I am missing some things but not sure. Thanks

The engine bay has been stripped of the stock relays and parts. It looks like the previous motor's intake may have been carbs judging by that aftermarket fuel line and regulator and it probably had an MSD style ignition as the CDI box is gone.
Some of the missing things are the CDI box, the relay and fuses for the rear heated window and heater blower motor. What is the motor you bought, and what intake and ignition do you have on it? Did they do the 964 conversion on the back too? I think it depends on what direction you are going. A long way to return to stock, so might as well enjoy a hot rod. Congrats! |
If the missing motor was carbs, would they have used a different fuel pump up by the fuel tank, or just used that regulator to lower the fuel pressure?
Also missing is the fuel accumulator and fuel filter. I wonder if what's left of the fuel lines will work with a CIS motor. Mark |
Yes, the back has a 964 conversion also. The motor is 3.0l CIS.http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1528854472.JPG

Wow nice clean motor. Do a WTB ad for the whole panel and components, or get on the PET and start getting part numbers. Keep us posted.

Dude you better be sure about those motors - they are suspect. Lots of silver paint, ArmourAll, and other suspect things going on. If you're going to plug and play do your homework or it may be a living nightmare.

When I see that much shine on anything for sale......I get cautious unless the seller is someone with a stellar history and reputation in business. Good luck.

Thanks for the help and advice. The motor arrives next week so i will know for sure but other Pelican's have vouched for the seller so I am hopeful.

The car definitely was running carbs, so figure a fuel pump, accumulator, lines, etc. as well as the electrical components. You might do well to check the parts book (PET) to track down the needed parts.
