Patina preservation

I'm in the process of getting my 69e barn find on the road again. I'm doing a complete engine, tranny, and brake system rebuild. The interior and exterior I'm preserving as found. My questions are, is there a sealant I should use on the engine shrowd, to protect it? I have a satin clear coat for rims, which is good for very high temps I could use. As for my engine tins, I was considering a light scotch Brite sanding to knock off loose paint, and then going over with Eastwoods clear patina preserver. Thoughts?

Just my thoughts but I doubt the cars next fifty years be anywhere near as harsh as the last fifty. As with most of these cars now a days I am sure it spends far more time in a comfortable climate controlled garage than on the street and will probably never see the inside of a barn again unless it is a photo shoot. I think you will probably be just fine cleaning the parts and putting them back on as is. Not sure you need to do anything to them other than a damp sponge and a vacum every once in a while.
