Aftermarket Whale Tail Early Turbo Carrera / 3.0 Carrera

SOLD

Friend is cleaning his garage and decided he no longer wants this tail. Unknown history or manufacturer. Maybe you guys can comment to help. It isn't ready to bolt on, needs some cleaning up and paint, but looks serviceable, see pics for condition. The small grill is blanked off, no opening behind it. Needs some hardware on the grilles. Local pickup in SF East Bay, $500 OBO cash only.

Thanks!

George

Looks nice enough. How about the back side including the area where the mounting studs come through and maybe closeup of the texture on the rubber?

It's an odd one. Not factory but frame looks metal. I was trying to figure out if the rubber was factory or not. Are there studs where the rubber mounts on the sides?

There are studs holding on the rubber. 4 in the back lip, evenly spaced across, and one each on the "starting edge" of the rubber. The rubber piece is in nice shape, still pliable. Posting some texture pictures next per your request.

Bottom center on rubber lip will have “Porsche” embossed if lip is factory.

No Porsche embossing I can see. How large is it? There is only a round molding artifact the size of a nickel in the center. Let me take a pic.

Not so on an early tail rubber.

More than likely an aftermarket rubber. Metal frame or are my old eyes failing me?

Can't blame you, I thought so too, but I just checked and it looks like it is fiberglass frame too unless the metal is totally buried inside the fiberglass.
