Interior NVH and Insulation DIY Kit
Hello All,
When restoring my interior, I did a good amount of research and talked to automotive engineers specializing in NVH to acquire these products for my restoration. Did not end up using all the material for my project so I have a good amount left over. 1. Shiny stuff is for sound deadening aka dynamat Changes the natural frequency of the sheet metal to dampen noise. Perfect replacement for the factory tar. You dont need to layer your entire inside with this stuff just use it on the flat section. You can use a small hammer and your ear to understand areas with high frequency vibration and only apply there. Saves you weight. 15 sqft 2. The half inch thick grey/white material is for sound absorption and also insulation. Its from DEI products. Runs about $100 for 23 sqft on their website. Does an amazing job of blocking on heat from the engine bay. A little less than 18 sqft 3. The last one is a 1/8 inch thick mass loaded vinyl. Designed to reduce noise transmission. I used this on my rear parcel shelf only but I have seen others use it on the entire inside. 28 sqft Would be happy to help you out with your project and give pointers where possible. See below for pictures of how I did mine. Not shown is the mass loaded vinyl portion. Thanks! Selling the whole lot for $120. Picked up in Socal only. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() post image online |
