hi dave, i have a 79 sc, would these manuals be useful for me? ive never had a chance to flip thru a set to see what they cover.

Yes, and no. There will be much useful info, but newer model info was covered in these with supplements. There are supplements in these, and printing dates as recent as 1983, so i think these would be useful for you. But I can't say for certain it is complete. They were in binders like this so new information could be added as it became available, and I can't say for certain it is complete. And also, the 1972-on set assumes you have already volume 1/2 which covered the early models. So, for example Vol. 1 will tell you about putting a 66mm crankshaft into the early aluminum case. Vol 3 then tells you what you need to know that is different about putting a 70.4mm crank into a mag crankcase, but does not include the original info in Vol 1. And supplements will then tell you what is different about the 3 liter crankshaft going into the aluminum crankcase, compared to what was initially in Vol 3. It can be sort of confusing. But there is no substitute for factory manuals, and it is rewarding (in my opinion) to have the "real deal" maroon vinyl binders with heavy slick paper on the shelf in the shop, and to actually use them.
