FS 1986 3.2L Carrera Engine + back dated heat, runs strong in car for PPI + extras

EDIT: I thank you for all of your interest. I have accepted a full-price offer from a buyer who has offered a simple and clean transaction. I will be dropping the motor in the next two weeks and we will complete the transaction shortly thereafter.

Thanks again,

Doug

I've decided to do a 3.6 upgrade and have the new motor purchased already. The car screams, now, it will scream more with the new engine.

For SALE: stock 1986 Carrera 3.2L with performance upgrades and backdating for the early cars!!

Here's some history:
I bought this engine with my car as a project, but complete with the parts through Dave Bouzaglou at TRE and have 2,500 miles on the car since rebuilding the entire car (see many of my pelican threads, if you are interested). Dave had the engine PPI performed and passed with flying colors at the time of purchase, October of 2004. It is my belief that this engine has 66k miles on it. At the time, Dave believed that number as a result of the PPI and my Carrera odometer / speedometer reflects 65.6k miles, which came from the same donor vehicle (as did my trans, suspension, brakes, etc, etc).

By July of 2005, the car was painted, oil cooler system installed, suspension complete and detailed and running again. Since that time, it has run flawlessly and I've put 2500 miles on it. Since it runs great and you can go for a test drive with me, OR have a PPI done on it, I'm sure the condition will be 100% verified. In 2500 miles of driving, it has consumed about 3/4s of one quart, which again, is consistent with its mileage. It does not smoke at idle, startup or any other time. The engine idles smoothly and pulls VERY hard. I do not have the VIN from the donor car, however.

In September 2005, I removed the engine to complete the back dated heat, modify and repaint the engine tins, replace the high pressure Carrera fuel lines (to the fuel rails) and clean everything. I've attached some pictures below of the stage where it was ready to go back in the car.

With my large 72 row cooler upfront, the engine has never gotten hotter than 195 degrees. The thermostat opens at 190, I believe.

FEATURES:
Exhaust is upgraded to SSI’s and a lightweight, stainless, dual outlet sport muffler (14 lbs by MKExhaust) with polished tips and brushed finish. DME has been upgraded with a Steve Wong chip tuned for the SSI / sport muffler exhaust setup. Power is conservatively 12 to 20 HP above stock with those two upgrades. New AN high-pressure-fuel lines (replacement for factory Carrera fuel lines) New injector seals, New Magnecore wires. New Plugs, New Oil Pressure sender, New distributor cap, new rotor, New silicon valve cover gaskets, Recent fan and housing powdercoat and valve cover paint, 4 new pushrod tubes and seals, New backdated Oil Line. NEW FG backdated heat and high temp silicon ducting. Valve adjustment 2000 miles ago.

Steve Wong upgraded my DME to the later 32k (89 style) as part of his upgrade. That change offers more resolution in the fuel maps resulting in a smoother idle and running.

Also comes with Porsche factory clutch and flywheel. Clutch does not slip and is useable immediately.

With starter, flywheel, clutch, DME, engine harness, updated Carrera fuel lines (Three months ago I built this out of -6 AN lines and had the fuel rails converted to -6 so it is easy to replace again rather than using the $500 factory part), asking $7500 + shipping. I prefer local, Southern California sale, so you can see, hear, experience and test what you'd be buying.

For an additional $600, I'll sell the soft oil lines which run the length of the car to the front oil cooler. That includes thermostat, all fittings and adaptors. Those are new with about 1/2 a year and 2500 miles.

If you don't want some of the parts, be it exhaust, SSI's, etc, let me know. I could sell some parts separately. I'm also flexible, if you want to propose another deal. However, I'm not desparate to sell and see value in a clean, simple transaction.

Please email me with any questions dougwierenga@cox.net. I can answer every question. If you'd like to talk via phone, just email me and send me your number, or I'll send you my own. As you'll find, I'm very detail oriented and know this is a very good engine for the right buyer.

Here are photos taken when I did the back-dated heat (last Fall):

Once we've struck a deal, I'll need a week to pull the motor and would possibly be able to assist in driving it locally in the back of my LandCruiser. I could also strap it to a pallet and prepare it for shipping, as necessary.
Thank you for your interest,

Doug

This motor is as clean in person as it looks in the pictures! I was honored when Doug let me help him remove it when he was doing the backdate.... Then I got a ride in it! The power and sound are outrageous... pulls crazy hard and sounds great. Really I can't believe he's selling this cause it has so much freeking power - but that's all the better for whoever picks it up!

Never the less, great motor.

Wish I had the cash. Damn thats a good deal! I'm sure its not needed, but I will vouch for the fact that Doug is a very nice and honest guy. A pleasure to do business with.

Doug Doug Doug, the 3.6 is a nice upgrade but the hardware for the conversion is kinda pricey. Sheez don't buy Doug's bullet proof 3.2 just wait for him to upgrade next year to a twin turbo! Then get his equally awesome 3.6 conversion for 5 grand more!
If I was ready to pull the trigger on another awesome 3.2 this is it. We both drove it during his driving school (parking lot AX in San Diego) and it never, repeat never missed a beat. I use to race a 3.2 and Doug's ran as well as mine.
Doug is all about perfect car prep, this engine will not disappoint. Why take the chance on a junkyard engine when you can have Doug's perfectly perfect 3.2.
How much for the engine in the car?

Nice looking RSR...can you post more pix? I might be picking a red one up in the next few weeks, but it will need a bigger engine...has a 2.4 in it now. Maybe we can talk down the road a bit. Dan

Guys,
Thanks for all of the interest. I've got my Mom visiting from out of town this weekend, so I will be following up early next week. I guess there must be a shortage of good 3.2s out there, because I'm amazed by the response. Wish I had more than one to sell - I'd love to satisfy all of the interest. I want to be fair to everyone, but also make for an easy, clean transaction for myself.

Please stay tuned. Off to the next venture with Mom.......please enjoy your weekends!

Doug
