1969 911E 2.0L MFI engine

Post is closed without a sale. Item will be listed on ebay under seller ID f1badude. I will post the item number once I have started the auction. Please accept my sincere apologies for the confusion.

1969 911E Stock 2.0L MFI engine
$2000.00 or best offer
No exhaust
~103K miles
Engine was running good when removed from the vehicle

I traded this engine for my 3.0L 8 years ago for a 914 club race project that I never finished due to chronic illness. It has roughly 103K miles with no known previous rebuilds or mods done. Before I purchased the engine, the previous owner sent me a video of the engine running in the car. (I no longer have the vid) I have never started or run the engine myself but it ran very smooth in the video throughout the normal operational RPM range.
A leak-down test was performed on the Engine before I traded and all cylinders had good pressure & leak-down and were all consistent with each other. I have not repeated this test myself.
This Engine has been storred in a climate controlled warehouse since I purchased it. There was one spark plug wire damaged in storage when it was moved as you can see from picture.
Please excuse that my Porsche knowledge is a little rusty as I have been out of the loop now for years. I will try my best to answer any questions you have or get the answer for you after a little refresher research.
Also, please excuse the 2 blurry photos. I took them with my droid and didn't realize they were out of focus when I took them. I can take any detailed photos you wish, just let me know what views you are looking for and I will arrange to pull the engine from the storage shelve.
Buyer is responsible to arrange any shipping but I can work closely with you. It is in a warehouse with lift assist so it can be loaded without a lift gate if this is a cost savings for you.

Engine is sold as is with no warranty expressed or implied.

Please email questions to baldrich@prodigy.net or send a PM

If interested, I also have a set of 2.2L carb heads that have been drilled for dual plug, ported, and increased valve size. The gentleman who ported them had not yet polished them so they would need a little elbow grease to get maximum flow. Make me an offer or I will place them up for sale here after I dig all my old Porsche inventory out of storage.

Let's start a pseudo-eBay bidding war. How 'bout making a buyer prove they own a '69E to be allowed to purchase it?

I'll pay $1,650, not a penny less, but perhaps more!

Ron

Guys, once I saw the reaction within minutes after placing the ad, I figured i under valued. I did not want to be rude and change my post but on the flip side, I have to agree with spinmd's bid suggestion as I planned to accept the best offer as the selling price anyway. I just didn't think it would be more than the price I put in the ad!
This being the case, we should have some ground rules.
I am on vacation right now and will be back tomorrow night.
What I can do is accept whomever has the highest bid as of the end of Sunday (midnight 00:00:00 EST Monday)
I will accept PayPal as payment form but if someone else bids using another form of payment that will not require me to pay a service charge, the paypal amount will be figured in to a Net bid.
To make it not too active, bids should be in $25 increments. I can accept spinmd's $1701 bid but next highest bid should be at least $1725.
Please remember also that buyer will need to arrange and pay for shipping. I will accomodate getting it packaged for LTL ground transport and will also get it loaded on the truck for you.
I would like at least a $500 deposit by midnight EST 00:00 Tuesday am and full payment by Thursday. I will be available to ship up until August 5th but I will be out of town for at least a week to follow after that.
If for some reason the sale falls through with the top bidder then I will offer it to the next highest bidder at his last bid price.
Please make sure to ask any necessary questions before the end of Sunday.

Thanks guys in advance and good luck.

There was a long discussion on the idea of "best offer" being higher rather than what we typically think of as "OBO." This discussion was right here in the parts4sale section. IIRC, the members thought that bidding sucks. Especially when it starts because a seller made a low price in offering an item for sale.

No matter, the rules for posting don't allow bidding. Thread reported.

Hi milt, you are correct. I have changed the price of the engine and also included best offer.

As several of you guys have an interest, I accept blueboxter as the first tentative offer until him and I have a chance to discuss any details. If any one would like to submit an offer via PM, please feel free.
I do need to sell it as soon as possible so I am not going to hold out for a bidding war. Just so it is fair, I will allow blueboxter last right of refusal on the highest offer if it is not his and the same to each of you as you chronologically put your dibs in after blueboxer; should he wish to refuse the highest offer in the event it is not his.
I think this is a fair way to approach this.
Sorry to stir up controversy guys. Probably I should have done a little more homework first!!!
Hopefully I have not ruffled too mant feathers.

PS: normally I would probably eat my hat on this one guys but given my not-so-good health/employment circumstances, I am only liquidating all my Porsche stuff to be able to make ends meet. I would rather be on here looking for a roller to put the engine in to! I hope you understand.

Brian

Hi John:

I'm not near the engine right now but I will call in the morning to see if the guys in the shop are working and maybe I can talk them into taking a photo.

$2000 or best offer. Since this motor is worth about $4K, maybe $5k, what's your best offer so far?

Honestly, I though these issues had been sorted out on the fourm. Ron, you know better and it shows a clear lack of class trying to open up a bidding war after the motor was clearly sold. Talk about bush league.

Blueboxster,

I am sorry for your frustration but a one line post saying "I'll take it" does not constitute a sale. We have not discussed any details nor have you made me any type of offer value. You have only indicated "I'll take it" and then asked me for my phone number.
I sincerely apologize for this issues. If I had known this would have caused so much issues, I would have not even placed the ad in the first place.

I am sorry, but I think this was a mistake for me and I now withdraw this engine for sale as I have not accepted any offers on it yet.

Brian, thats pretty weak. As I pmed you, that I would take it and you forwarded me your contact info to sort out the details....

"248 462-1229
I am on vacation now until tomorrow. I can be available Sunday if you would like to talk.
Thanks,

Brian"

The only honorable thing to do here is sell the motor for your asking price. Anything else is a gross violation of forum rules and shows the value of your word.
