1969 912 starter won't function
I just returned from a 400 mile trouble-free trip in my 912. Within minutes of returning home it wouldn't start. The ignition lights come on, but when I turn the key to start - nothing. I even went so far as to replace the battery and still - no go. All wires and connections are intact. I looked for a starter relay (even researched online) and haven't seen anything that resembles such a component. Any suggestions?

These are pretty simple cars. Are you mechanical in nature? If so get under the car safely and jump the starter poles to see if the starter engages. If it does then you have an ignition switch fault. If it does not then you have a starter or solenoid fault.

Thanks for your reply. I replaced the battery and cleaned a few electric connections and she fired right up. Have driven numerous times since and no problems. May that continue\.
