Looking for a ZD gearset

I would like to find a ZD 31:22 gearset for a 901/902 5 speed I guess this is called the highway set, I have a 902/16 with a 6:29 pinion, I was thinking this might happen but when running to Muskegon today, this thing ran right up to redline and it wanted to keep going but I figured 115 was fast enough, My current 5th is a Z 29:23 Anyone got one or know of someone before I waste a lot of time lookin?

Thanks

Craig

Find yourself a 7/31 901/15 and then sell me your old 6/29! The 6/29 in a good track trans. If I ever get the time to pull and swap out and rebuild both tranys I will have the extra gear set you want.

I just got ahold of a ZD set from John Walker, I had talked to him last year when rebuilding this old box and he did have several sets. I do have another 6/29 box with stock sets A,GA,O,U,Z but not sure what I am going to do with it yet?

Glad you hooked up with John. I was going to suggest you contact him as I knew he was currently selling gear sets.

This is a nice 5th gear for that 902 box. 3500 72 mph 4500 94mph and still a whole lot of Torque

I did the same gear change in my 912 to better match the T-4 motor. Before, 4000 at 70, after 3200 at 70. 4000 is now 90. Oh, and I went from 195/60s to 205/50s at the same time. So this dropped me back down a bit. I still have the original gears, reassembled on the 914 shafts to keep in safe and in order. I doubt I will ever put them back in the car so they may be available... They WILL need new brakebands, synchros, dog-teeth, etc. They are the factory originals with who knows how many miles on them!
