shift kit
I just installed a new shift kit bt weismeister (spell ?) and have run into a few snags. I cant get the springs back into place and the floor mounted heater control will not fit back into its place because there is not enough clearance because of the thicker plate now installed. Has anyone ever run into these and can you give some advice. As a side note I did take the car for a spin without the springs and the shifting is great just was nervous I was going to hit reverse from first to second.

Alex-
One thing I tried that worked was putting a nail or pin in one end through about a 1/2 inch of the spring, then trying to bend the other half down to the opening and slide another pin or nail in to anchor that end. Then I was able to compress the rest of the spring and push the real pin all the way through. When I had to take it all back apart again because I (of course) forgot something, it was quite a bit easier the second time around... Jason

I finally was able to get the springs into place. I used a vice put a piece of wire through the spring I also made sure that the pin was in the spring. Compressed the spring with the vice making sure to do it on the edge of the vice allowing for the pin to be able to come out of the ends. The pin gives the spring stability and keeps it from bending when I got the spring to the size I needed to just twist the wire and it hold the spring to size. When I put the springs and pins in place I just snipped the wire and was done. Just havent done the heater control lever yet not a major concern.
