Very Early 912 on BringATrailer
Folks:
Today a very early 912 appeared on BringATrailer. Chassis number 450159 was Porsche-bodied in April 1965, which I understand was the first month of production. Its original engine number was 740055 (they started at 740001). Originally sold in Switzerland, the light ivory car is in pretty original configuration but has a replacement engine and has been restored but not to show standards. https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1965-porsche-912-coupe-28/?utm_source=Iterable&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=campaign_2648441 It's in Garden Grove, California, and the auction has seven days to go; current bidis $25,000. Nice looking car. Seems to have retained lots of its unique early pieces. As a side note, I’ve always liked those big snorkel air cleaners not just because IMO they look great but they were Porsche’s first design choice for the 912. Back in the 70’s I found a set for my 67.
Hope you all have a nice Thanksgiving. Bill |
