Cutting out floors...or working like a bat!

Well, we started removing the floor pans form the 912. While inspecting things, I realized that the new pans extend beyong the interior space of the floor an under the inner rockers. Before, I go chopping things, is there an easier (notice I didn't even think of "easy") way to cut out the floor pans, especially under the rockers? Man, I hate lying under the car and working with old rusted sheet metal! Looks like I don't have much choice

Anyone ever use an impact wrench with a chisal on the end? I'm finding the air powered cutter slow and tedious! I could use a recipocating saw up top side, but not under the rockers, the space is too limited.

Any pointers or suggestions you all could give would be appreciated!!

Bill,
The only relativly easy way is with a plasma cutter, amazing device, training is needed as is the cutter, that said I have been told that drilling out the spot welds works well. Most welding supply houses have a tool which fits into a drill and cuts the weld. As far as the rocker...when I did my pans only the floor had rusted, my rockers were ok. I hope this helps. A search here, the 911 Pelican site and Bay 912 may bring up some additional ideas.
Good luck,
Chas.

Bill:
I just finished replacing the pans on my 356. I used a cut off wheel on a air die grinder and cut from the bottom side. I was able to cut the pans out in a couple of hours. I then went to the top side and chisled the spot weldsTha t was the time consuming part. Good Luck Mike Moss
