'66 window problems

My windows crank up to about 3/4 then jam, but I cannot see why... If I "push" up on the window glass and drop it back down a bit it will continue up. What to do? Prefferrably without getting new regulators.

..you guys on the 912 board aren't real snappy responders. I have same window problem and emailed several of you privately regarding window fixes and not one response???

What gives?

On pages 91-91 in the Tweeks catalogs 69A and 69B, they state:

"A hard to operate manual window is a sign of a bad regulator. This crank pivot repair could be the solution. Inspect your current part and advise length and slot directions when ordering"

There is a picture of four pivots, the part that wears out in the regulator, with parts listed T875C, T875B, T875, and T875A. $32.95 each (and you need only one).

Tweeks was bought out by Mid America and they have discontinued a lot of 912 parts, but they still have them on the shelves en if they are not listed in the published catalog. Perhaps you could call after
inspecting yours? Possibly cheaper.

My windows do exactly the same thing. I have to pull them up and push them down, while turning the handle. I took the door panels off and greased as much of the track and window regulator that I could reach. It helped but did not cure the problem.

Check the weatherstripping for the window glass that runs vertically in the upper frame-as they age, they wear and allow the glass to get cocked sideways as it travels up and down, and sometimes wedges itself in the track-which is why when you "push" up on it, it frees itself-you've straightened it within the frame by pushing up on it. Greasing the edges of the glass or the channel of the weatherstripping helps, but it's only temporary. The only real fix is to replace the weatherstripping, and inspect, clean, grease, and adjust the regulator while you've got the upper frame out to replace the rubber.
