When it rains it pours. Since august, my 912 has gotten rust repair in engine bay/ rebuilt trans/ new clutch/ new pressure plate/ surfaced flywheel/ rebuilt starter/ new speedo cable/ new clutch cable/ repacked CV's. The car lasted for 30 miles before the battery apparently was not being charged and the stereo turned off...then the headlights went orange...then the gauge lights died...then the engine quit. The generator is less than 12k miles old. The voltage regulator less than 7k miles old. I was supposed to drive this car to Las Vegas this weekend for to be in the Porsche corral at the VARA race. The battery and generator connections were good and tight. Oh why, oh why...

Before you totally bum out..check the polarization of the generator. Mine lost it when the B+ wire from the battery shorted against the regulator case because of my sloppy connector. If you need direction on this just ask.
