I finally got to changing the transmission output shaft seals. Followed Dave Hillmans proceedure except on my 1969 5-speed Transmission there is no aluminum plug with an o-ring to keep the trans fluid back. There is no type of plug used on a 1969 5-speed.
Overall everything went smoothly in spite of the tight quarters. The hardest thing was to get the new seals set in place properly. Fortunately one of our machinist made me a aluminum plug the same diameter as the seal to help tap the seal into place with a mallet. I bought a $2.50 seal puller from Harbour Freight and it was great for removing the old seals, go get one if you are pulling any kind of seal! FYI Ron D
