new engine break in

I just finished a rebuild and have the engine in the car. I could start it up any day now. The problem is, I have not finished some repairs that I started (new floor pan) and I am going to start school again in a few days. Can I start the engine even though it is not likely that I will be driving it. Would it be a good idea to just run it every once in a while. thanks

My engine was rebuilt by Harry Pellow, aka The Maestro (may he rest in peace).

The Maestro recommended adding a little 2 stroke oil to each fill up for the first 600 miles. "...helps get the top end nice and oily..."

He also suggested vary speed, up and down, and not driving over 4000 RPM for the first 1000 miles.
