FS:1976 912E Restored! Cheap!
Hi All,
It's X-Mas time and the silly season causes us to do crazy things, like sell my perfect 1976 912E, so here is the info.... 1976 Porsche 912E VIN # 9126001483 Rebuilt Motor 2.0L fuel injected with less than 5000 miles (have reciepts) $13,000 ALL Steel C2 Body Conversion w/C4 Wheels (have reciepts) with new complete paint job. New Nitto Tires (5K miles on them) Power Drivers seats (Late 911 style, not sport seats) JUST passed CA Smog 148,800 miles on body, 3rd owner, car was from Arizona. Galvanized (Zinc Treated) body. Electric Sunroof A/C (compressor is in the trunk, not installed but the rest is there, just need to install the compressor and charge her up) I bought the car as an x-mas/b-day gift to myself and my wife was less than impressed (to say the least) so the car has to go. I live in Alabama, but the car is located in Southern California at my parents house. I had a transport company who was going to deliver it to me in Alabama before x-mas until my wife found out I bought it. Now she is ultra pissed off and I need to sell it quickly, to replicate this car would cost serious money.... I was going to ask $12,000 for it but I will just say $10,000 is my absolute bottom dollar. I have several pictures to email you if your interested. Please email me at sonny@shiptri.com ** This thing looks JUST like a 1994 C2/C4 911 Silver on Black** |

Porsche DV,
You are correct the car sold for cheaper....I paid $8000 for it, $1000 dollars of Interest and finance fees, and $2000 for shipping, so I'm in it much more than what it was selling for. I got charged shipping even though the car didnt ship to Alabama. I'm trying to get as close to what I have in it out of it. |

Did you sell the car is that what you are saying? I saw it for $8995 at one point. Sometimes you have to eat the cost, its part of the game. You can't always recoup costs. If people could recoup the costs, we would be seeing the Rs clones going for $40k-$60k. Its not going to happen

No, I bought the car when I was home in Southern California visiting my parents for Thanksgiving. I paid for it to be shipped out here to Alabama, until the wife found out about it and put a halt to my plans to bring it to Alabama and put a 3.2 litre in it (eventually). She gave me a choice of keeping the 912 and selling off one of my 911's (I have 2), so the 912 has to go....
I put it on ebay and it ran up to like $8300 or maybe a little more and ebay closed the auction for a ad violation because I said "I reserve the right to no sale the car unless it reaches $10K" and since I didnt list it with a reserve (ebay lost $2.00, not listing a reserve) they shut down the auction with 2 days until it ended. It is back up on ebay, listed it yesterday at 1pm CST after removing the "ad descrepancy"....it FINALLY got posted at 3am CST and the bids are up to $3250 as of a few min ago. I'm willing to take a loss on the car, I'm just trying to make it as small of a loss as possible. The absolute bottom dollar I would take is $9800, losing me about $1200 + my time (whatever thats worth??...lol) Sheesh on ebay I was really close to my bottom dollar mark....until ebay shut it down....anyways my seller name on ebay is jake0842 if any of you want to see 11 other pics of the car. Thanks, Steve |

I think you should put your efforts in getting your money back for getting charged for shipping , were services rendered? No. Did you pay with cash or credit card? That makes no sense that they would charge you $2,000 for shipping since most companies take partial or full amount the day they recieve the car to be shipped.

JD,
I paid for it all up front. The car was being shipped in an enclosed carrier and was being expidited. I paid by Credit Card, but the contract clearly stated it was a none refundable transaction. Basically the shipping company really went way out of their way to accomidate me and in the 9th hour I had to cancel. I thought of disputing the charge on my card, but when i called Visa card services they told me based off the info I gave them regarding the transaction it would only get rejected when the trasport company submitted the contract. i think the car will get close to the money on ebay though so I'm not really worried about the money. I certainly got the money I'm willing to loose out of the car in shear driving pleasure...it really is a nice car to drive, other than it feels like it is missing 2 cylinders compared to my 911's....lol Thanks, Steve |

Kinda unque vehicle. You are correct, perfect base for a 3.2 or 3.6 motor. Unfortunately, after buying the car and tossing another $8-10k for the motor conversion, you are hovering around $20k at least. Probably find the "real deal" for around that price.
Good Luck with your sale, someone may be happy with the stock Type IV...

"...until the wife found out about it and put a halt to my plans..."
Keep the car, sell the wife.
