carb rebuild question
I know I sound like a beginner, but I am. Learning is half the fun.
I finished rebuilding my carbs and have them installed. Car started right up. (Deep breath). No leaks. I know that there are a lot of different adjustments that need done. The car is idleing between 1200-1500. I want to make sure I have the mixture screws set correctly. If the car pops once in a while, is it to lean or rich? Should I turn the screws in or out? Thanks

Idle should hover around 900 RPMs, popping through the carbs generally indicates a lean mix. Rotating the idle adjustments out or counter clockwise richens the mix, in, leans the mix. Most of these cars will pop at times, cold engine, rapid acceleration, but once the engine is warmed popping should be at a minimum. Popping can also be a result of ignition problems, points, timing, valves and even plugs/wires... generally it's a lean mix though.
Best of luck Chas. 356 912

After rebuilding, how did you set your float levels? This part is pretty critical, because if its not right, then everything else is compensating for bad float levels and it will never run the way it should. Do you have the p78 tool, or the HarryBieker version?
