What's the clearance keith?;-)

Hello all you veteran engine builders out there. Does anyone off the top of your head know the clearance tolerance at the ring guides on a set of big bores? Also should there be a measurable gap from end to end of ring once in the jug? Looking at the picture I noticed in the #3 that all three rings where with the gap close to the 12 o'clock position. This would account for my oil consumption? I understand that these are suppose to be positioned at 12,8 and 3 on the dial, however somehow in the #3, they all moved to tdc. I had them all properly position two years ago. Would this be caused by large clearance in the ring guides?

Perhaps time for new P&C's.

Gregg
