Here you go:
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsche-911-technical-forum/951787-simple-question-will-s-calipers-work-14x5-5-fuchs.html After driving the car for a few days, I'm not sure I'm going to go towards the upgrade. I have to find out if there will be any weight penalty for using the heavier vented 911 rotors and how will be offset by the lighter the aluminum calipers. My credo for this car is to not add anything that will increase the 2,300 lb. base weight. I'm lovin' my 'lamb in wolf's clothing' - Porsche style. Bill K #1151 |

Old fenders off!
Well, Dan and company removed the fenders / wings so we can survey the condition of the fender to cowl area and seal/gasket.
It doesn't look as bad as I thought it would. Here are some pix: http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1494272224.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1494272224.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1494272224.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1494272224.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1494272224.jpg So some repair work and prep underneath and we will test fit the newly acquired set and the off to Johan at the paint shop! Here is a look at the Ducktail fitted. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1494272224.jpg |

Ducktail on a 912e?
I know, a Ducktail on a 912E just aint right? But I really love the looks and lines with a Ducktail.
I am having the original lid done up correctly so purist's will have the option of switching the cover out... that is a consideration if I had an eye towards selling it ... but that's not an option I wish to consider for quite a long time. So... purists be damned... JFI! LOL http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1494272224.jpg Paul |

That's a great looking 912! Thanks for posting, would be nice to see more views of the car if you care to share. Regards Paul |
Almost ripped off!
So... while there is a break in the action as I wait for my body shop guy to give me a date to ship the 912E over... this could be titled "THERE'S A SUCKER (LIKE ME) BORN EVERY SECOND!"
Funny you should mention the Beverly Hills Car Club... had a local guy stop by my shop and look at the 912e and spun me a tale of surprising his 25 yr old son with a nice Porsche as a gift and he wanted his son to restore it and drive it as daily transportation. The guy was really working me on the Father/Son angle so hard that I started to get a little concerned that this really was not the project for a 25 yr old or that the daily driver thing was the reason for finishing a nearly done project! More questions about the buyer's motives resulted in more pleading to cut him a good deal because his son needed the best deal possible to get the project done. He made me an offer of 10 k at first and I flatly refused it as not even close. At this point I was not in the mood to get into the negotiation dance and shot out a offer of "15k would not be enough" He worked me some more and really tried to tug at my heart strings with the yarn of a Father/Son project. Somehow I got to 12k and he countered with 11.5... I nearly took 11500 because he had such a sob story.... but things were starting to feel really fishy! It turns out he was trying to flip it to the BHCC... the only way I caught it was that they sent me a bill of sale from BHCC and when I asked the buyer who Adam was... the owner of BHCC.... Well the Liar was caught, probably lots of meat left on the bone and I was almost duped! He went so far as to try to tell me Adam was his son! Really... what a sleaze! LET THE SELLER BEWARE! Paul |
I like the duck tail on the 912...guys put whale tails on non-turbos, 3.8 wings on SC's ...etc
No big del.. MattR |

I guess, when you strip and blast it, you'll find out it must be welded at about all classic areas. so while-your-in-there, you end up with a full restoration... |
Finally!
I can't believe it's been so long since this all began but 'Butzy' is finally off to Johan's Paint Shop for rust remediation and respray!
Look back a few posts for an example of his work on our 1977 Pontiac Firebird Formula... outstanding work! Pix of Vincent's flatbed hauling it away! Almost done... http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1501727575.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1501727575.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1501727575.jpg I couldn't resist adding a pic of Dan, the owner of MVP Automotive and my good friend who did lots of great work on this project... he was caught loafing at the MVP Booth handing out Free Tee shirts on Bellport Day last Saturday which has become a Village Tradition for more than 15 years now! |
Underway with paint and rust work...
