Different Engine support bars?
I just want to check... I have a 1965 (I think) 912 that I picked up in boxes for cheap. Looking through all the parts, it looks like the engine support bar I have is a very thin, flat piece of metal with 2 tubes on the sides. Most of the pictures I've seen on these forums the bar looks like it's alot beefier boxed bar. Am I missing a part, or did Porsche infact upgrade this bar?
tks, Evan |
That is the correct engine mount for the early 912. It bolts to the rear (front from behind) and hangs from rubber mounts on both sides...Good luck Mark

Evan:
Here are examples of the earlier vs. later style. IIRC the 69 used 6 rubber mounts. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1208319345.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1208319385.jpg |

My car, 451326, built in August 1965, still has its original flat, solid mount. I don't know exactly when the softer mount came in, possibly during 1966, but I understand that it was changed to make the cars quieter. Frank |
