912 Flasher unit
Can anyone help me find the flasher unit. It's not the switch or the relay. It's the flasher. Can't seem to locate one anywhere.
Thanks. Dann

There are two places. one is under the peddle cluster. The other in behind the tach. Usually it is the one behind the tach that goes out. It needs a heavy duty type flasher.

Thanks Jaems, maybe I worded my thread wrong. I have the bad flasher unit. I can't find any parts place to replace it., Not here, NLA, or Stoddard
My turn signals work but when I put on the 4 ways, only the right side flashes. So I have to replace the flasher unit. Dann

Dann, try one of the other German car companies like BMW or VW. They have some heavy duty flashers units. The one I got for a 86 325es,one time, was the same one that I had for the 66.
The warning flasher unit is down by the peddle cluster. It should be a yellow rectangle box, at least on a 66. Sometimes it is just a small wire that has broken and can be fixed. This unit should be available from one of the German car companies. I understand that it can be expensive. If you can't find a electrical unit, bulbs, or etc. from Porsche. Always try one of the other German car companies. In fact the horn for the 66/67 is the same one as VW used and is about 1/6th the cost. It just doesn't have Porsche's part#. |

Are you talking about the round flasher? They're available at any auto parts store. Just take the old one in and find one that matches up to the terminal pattern on the bottom of the old one. I did this a couple of months ago.

Yes, it's round and aluminum. About 1.5" in diameter and about 3" long. Mike I'll get the numbers off it and get back to you.
Thanks, Dann

If your turn signals work but the 4 way emergency flasher does not it is the flasher relay by the foot pedals. This relay is no longer available. However it can be cleaned and repaired by carefully removing the relay and removing the cover. It is usually a broken wire or the relay contacts need cleaning the same as ignition points.
There is a good article on this site of how to replace it with after market relays. |
