exsaust gasket help
i have a semi normal 912 motor that is fairly new(900 mi) and i seem to be plagued with exhaust leaks at the head/ manifold. i am using the standard gaskets that are readily available and tightening the nuts real well but i still seam to get a bit of blow by. there are copper gaskets out there on the market, are they any better than the standard fair?

Lane, you will have to file the exhaust manifold flanges so they are squared. Maybe also the head or muffler. If they are not square/flat. They will continue to leak. Heat can warp them just enough so they will leak.

Permatex makes a copper brush on sealing compoud for exhaust applications. I have used it on other (non Porsche) applications and it works quite well. The more Porsche wise experts may want chime in if there is some kind of contra indication for these finnicky beasts...Good luck Mark
