Horn Relay
Does anyone happen to know where the horn relay is located? I checked under the driver's side floorboard, and there were 3 relays. Only one of the relays there had the right number of wires, but all were the wrong colors and I didn't want to pull something else's relay out by mistake. I know in the wiring diagram that there are 5 or 6 total relays shown. So I'm assuming the horn relay must be somewhere else. If anyone happens to know please let me know.
Thanks, Andrew |

Never mind, I found the relay. Althought finding it raises another question. Has anyone installed an aftermarket horn kit on their car? I bought a pair of Hella Trumpet horns and so far it seems almost impossible to get them to work, and the new horn relay is different of course... They work fine as long as they're hooked up to the windshield washer pump, but not if they're installed behind the horn grilles. If anyone has had any experience with installing newer horns and the horn relays please let me know if you have any suggestions or advice.
Thanks, Andrew |

Hello
seems like your horn actuation is switched with the washer ? How can you hook up 8 amp horns to a washerpumpcircuit runing normaly 2 amp ? The horns will work on an circuit with power and ground. You can run them from the battery or from the lights, wan´t to say your problem is not the washerpump, your problem is you didn´t understand your problem ![]() Did you cheked the pelicans tech site wire shematics ? Actually I'd made the switch on purpose. I only mentioned that the horns worked when hooked up to the windshield washer to show that they would work, it was just a question of getting them to work in the correct location. I'd hooked the horns up to the washer just to have a working horn until I could get them to work with the horn button. They work quite well hooked up to the washers, and the windshield wiper and washer switch is in a pretty convenient location. It's not a bad temporary setup if you don't mind losing your washers.
Once I took out the old relay and studied it for a while the problem was pretty easy to fix. It just required some wiring modifications to accomodate the newer horn relay. It requires combining the two horn wires, and running another wire to the battery. For $25 and a little bit of wiring work the hella kit seems to work very well. Andrew |

Hello
Nevermind, installing a horn is so simple I never had to think about it. If it didn´t worked it was just trouble shooting. Important is to start the trouble yourself while installation. Grüsse |
