windshield seals
Has anyone replaced their own windshild and rear glass seals themselves or is this something you want leave to the experts? Most glass people want big $$ to do this, especially when you mention that its a Porsche.
Thanks! GS 66 Irish Green 912

Hey GS
somewhere, someone wrote that they had problems with the aftermarket seals. Had to use factory seal. I will try to find link http://www.912registry.org/restore/upholst.htm 3rd one down Brett Last edited by adot; 12-19-2001 at 04:22 AM.. |

I already bought after market seals so thanks for the link. It looks like I will have a fun weekend and then spend more money. A friend told me to run a light string on the inside of the seal so it slightly expands then pull it out once the glass is in place. I won't give up until I try. Stubborness must be a Porsche owners trait. |

GS:
If at all possible, get a friend to help, as it's really a 2 man job. While the glass/old rubber is out, be sure to put a little paint on the metal lip area, since rust seems to start in that area. Also, if you need to do anything to your headliner, now's the time. Do you have a repair manual/step-by-step instructions? |

Thanks for the advice! The only manuals I have don't say a word about the seals. GS |

Did mine with my fingers and WD-40. Was very easy. Just took extra time to clean the glass. BTW dont even take your screwdriver out of the tool box thats asking for trouble.
