Exclamation #1 best way to ruin a tranny

Drain the oil and don't refill it! When I pulled out the diff I noticed that there was no oil, whereas the replacement tranny was full of oil, running out onto the floor, Swepco on the floor, lots of Swepco! Oh the agony $$$. Well anyway, there were also pieces of gears in there, thankfully not from the diff. which I put into the new tranny, as I'm sticking with Nadellas. When I took out the magnetic plug there were metal shavings all over it! Needless to say, that tranny was toast. So let this be a lesson, always refill your tranny fluid after draining it!

By the way, the tranny was ruined BEFORE I bought the car and it wasn't my fault. Thought I'd clear that up before I got hate mail.

On a side note, I was going to go to the 912 owners meeting next Saturday, but I'm fixing electrical gremlins. Guess I'll see you all at Dunkels!
