912 buying guide - help

hi Guys

i am looking at adding 912 that is for sale & was wondering what the 'tips' are for this classic Porsche.

i will be taking it to a my mechanic but before even getting him to look over it what are the dont even think about it.

i know that there will be some restore aspect to it but i dont want a complete project just something that i can take my time & still be able to take it out for a drive.

from what i got from the owner is:

- for the past 6 years only driven about 1000kms mostly sitting in garage.
- now real service work (i know still needs to be serviced)

thanks

Cristian

Besides the engine and brakes from sitting so long. The brakes to make sure that they are not frozen. The engine will need the oil and filter replace and hand turn to make sure that it is not frozen and new fuel. Otherwards a complete oil, oil filter, oil screen clean, fuel change and major tune-up before you even try to start it. The carbs may even or most likely need to be taken a part on clean with new gaskets.

The other main problem is rust. Check everywhere around the windows the lower door area and under, the floor boards inside and out, the trunk area specially under the battery - top and bottom of the battery box area. Any other areas where the paint may be bubbling. Rust can be very expensive to replace parts or fix.

This is a 40 years old car and unless it has been in a time machine or maintain like it was, there are going to be some issues.

Also you might like to try the 912 BBS it is also free.

912

Hi Christian is the car in WA or the eastern states?

I know of a good (black) 912 in ACT, I will also be selling my 67 912.

I am in Canberra also - will send you pics of my car and am happy to look at the black car.

Regards
