911 Points In My 912?

Ok i had a tune up done a few weeks back (I don't have a garage at my current home) by the local Porsche mechanic and he changed plugs and adjusted the carbs and a few things.

He told me that he installed points out of a 911 to make the car run better? Is this possible (does a 911 use an 050) and would it actually make any difference?

The car does feel more responsive but I think thats where the carbs where so out of sync :P

The point sets used in all but the earliest 912's are the same as many of the early series 911 motors. The 050 points are the same as some late 4cyl cars (but maybe the 911 points fit.) IMO the car runs better because of the overall tune-up. The only exception would be high rpm point bounce, or "float", but we're talking about 4cyl pushrod motors here.
