dashtop removal
Toby,
What year is your 912? When I removed my '66 912 dashtop, there were seven nuts and bolts as I remember, about five accessed through the trunk, and a couple from inside the cabin. They are small mm and mine needed a rust-breaker liquid treatment before turning. the '66 dash consists of a metal sheet covered with foam and vinyl. I was able to lift the dash without removing the windshield, but it is preferable to pop the windshield first. The tach is pushed out toward the steering wheel, after first removing the clamps inside the trunk under the dash. You'll probably want to replace the rubber gasket around the tach.

Thanks Rick, it is a 1969 912. The dash is a big ole mess of cracks and I was going to take the dash off and try to McGyver something with filler or some kind of vynil product, cant be worse than it is now.
