what would you pay? 69 912

Its been sitting outside for the last year and a half with a car cover over it.
has original paint, gulf blue
steel wheels with caps, small amount of rust, has period Michelins in amazing shape.
no visable signs of rust except for on the inside of the windsheild pillar it feels like there is some rust under the headliner on the passenger side and there is a small leak on that side.
Car ran when parked but was parked do to an undetermined oil leak on the top of the motor.
interior is decent with a small amount of mildew, drivers seat has a small tear.
goes through all gears nicely, cluch feels ok, the brakes arent frozen up and the suspension moves freely.

I'm somewhat mechanical, and would buy it to work on in my heated garage over the winter.

I'm thinking of offering $2500.

any thoughts or comments would be apreciated.

Cheers.
Steve

If he/she takes $2500 that will be a steal. At that price you really can't be hurt if the thing turns out to be a rust bucket. The parts will be worth more than that.

thanks for the input, that makes me feel better if I need to offer more. What would be a good deal, not a steal? 4k?

If they could not determined the oil leak. Then most likely it is the oil cooler seals or a crack case.

I doubt the rust you think under the headliner is that bad. But the rust under the battery is probably worst. The rubber gasket around the window is probably needs to be replaced. If you are seeing rust on the pillar.

Basically as John says, $2500 would be a steal now and $4000 could also still be a steal if the body rust is not that bad and the engine leaks are just seals.
