Type 4 engine fitting

Hello there, I know this question has been asked before buit I need help and I can no longer find the prvious thread. I've got a 67 912 with the 901 five speed gearbox, and a 2L type four VW camper engine ready to go into it. Obviously i need a rear engine mount and was wondering if anyone had plans, spec for this, or if there is somewhere i can buy one. What other things do I need to take into account, flywheel size, starter motor etc. Also, what is the keyswitch on the front scuttle near the bonnet for?

Use a bus engine mount with a couple of drop links. You'll need a 914 flywheel.

As for the keyswitch, I'm not sure what that is.

Some pictures of a really clean type 4 install into a 911 from this month's Pomona swap meet - I snagged them from the Pomona page on this website.

Hi,

Kennedy Engineering makes adapters to do what you want to do. I believe their web site is www.kennedyeng.com and they can do a lot of different matches.

Post Type for in a 66 912

In process here!!! I am using a upright T4 with a shortened (to 32") Bus crossmember on stock bus drops/hangers. It would seen the 914 crossmember would work if shortened also.

I am modifying the original SC tin soon as finding T4/912E stuff is rare(if it fits an early car!!). Slots for the bus crossmember were tricky but Im going to use slotted oval firewall plugs(late model Ford or GM) for the ears on the crossbar to pass thru.

Currently working with a 914 (215mm) flywheel although a 210 or 215 bus unit will work (I'm told) with the stock 901 throw-out bearing. I may switch to the bus flywheel as the Pressure plate and disc are about 1/2 the cost of 914 stuff. Someone give me a reason not to ...

DO NOT try and use a 912E rear mount unless you have ALL the parts...as in cut from a 912E cuz they dont make the hangers anymore....been there done that... although 20th Street Parts in AZ were very nice and accepted a return on a "used" part... thanks guys

Now..as soon as my back heals and I can lift heavy stuff again I'll get back to work on this lil project....
