I don't think those changes will help a 912E make more power (if they are really bad right now, though, you may get back some lost power). I think the only exhaust system for a 912E that will gain horsepower is a header set from Tangerine Racing. tangerineracing.com - be prepared to bring your wallet.

Hold on to your wallet regarding that tangerine racing exhaust.
I have a couple of secrets for you 912E guys. If you can hold on for a little while-maybe a few months. I have personal first hand knowledge of a 912E header system being fabricated by TWO seperate exhaust manufacturers. The first is Kymco motorsports-basically a VW exhaust source. There's a guy there that has been promising me a ceramic coated equal length header to fit a 912E for months. I haven't seen anything yet, but at last word it was being tested by a track guy. His quote was about $199 for a ceramic coated header. That is, in my opinion, worth waiting for. If it puts out a comparable amount of power to the ground as per the competitors in the grassroots comparo for 914 header/exhaust options from a few months back, I'd wait before spending upwards of $1500 through tangerine racing. The other source is a secret. I'll keep you all posted on that. When ready, I don't think it will be as inexpensive as the Kymco version is supposed to be. However, it is being prepped by a reputable 911 exhaust guru. He is doing this for me personally, as a prototype. He and I have discussed the lack of 912E header options. If it works out, it should become a readily available option for we 912E owners. I'll keep you guys informed. As I write, I am without any exhaust at all because my OE heat exchangers have been sent to this fabricator for use as a sizing template for his header. Later, David |

There's not too much you can do to tweak a 912E if you keep the FI setup. Getting rid of the thermal reactors and dumping the air pump helps, but the basic bottleneck is the FI system which is pretty tamper-proof. Best bet would be to stick some Webers on it (if allowed in your state); a more aggressive advance curve and maybe an upgraded exhaust system. The best advice if you live in a smog-state is to make sure your motor is tight and up to specs so you're getting all the power you can from a stock motor. Also, I've tried all of the top end stuff (K&N filter/milti-electrode plugs/trick ignition wires/ hot coil/MSD, etc. and didn't notice any difference.
