woa?! what the...what type of clutch do i have!? nicol4?!

man..i love this forum...i had just about pulled out my last strand of hair...then turned to this forum..ive found a little info on what im looking for..but can someone clear this up for me! nicol4 you touched on this subject...

can i get specifics on the 923 tranny (912E tranny) i was told it was 901 type...but looking at it...it seems to have a 915 type clutch with 901 sizes...HELP!

the reason i ask...is because i have a 923 that is going into a sand rail, but to get the adaptor to fit, i need SPECIFICS! i have a TO bearing to a 901 that just wont work..what do i need?!

thanks guys!

I can tell you what I know about my clutch job but this is the only Porsche car I have worked on.
The 912e has a 915 trany with a smaller output shaft that takes the 914 type clutch and flywheel. When I put mine back toghter I had the throwout bearing lined up with the ears on the arms of the fork that moves the throwout bearing. This is wrong it moves the bearing .75 of an inch to close to the flywheel. The little ears on the throwout bearings hould be at 90 degrees to the fork. This was the only odd thing about the clutch job. Thanks to John Walker for pointing me in the right direction on this repair.

hey chris! thanks for the reply...

but..well, would you mind clearing it up just a bit more for me!?

so all components are 915 EXCEPT for the output shaft...which is 901 size..so basicallly...only the clutch disk is affected? so i'd use a 901 size clutch/flywheel/pressure plate...and what will be 915? just the TO bearing? and how is it installed? (thats what i need the most clearification on!)

thanks ALOT!

The TO bearing looks like a 914 or bus style bearing. The fork pushes the bearing into the pressure plate. here is a link to a picture of what my throwout bearing looked like.

hope this helps

My TO bearing lookes exactly like the picture. The ears are not used I had to turn the TO bearing so that the ears are 90 degrees to the fork. I do not think the ears are the important factor the thickness of the TO bearing and that it fits snugly over the output shaft of the trany are.
