But remember, the 72/73 seats will not just slide right in to a '66 car. Do your homework before you buy.

You are wrong. These seats are a BOLT IN, as I said in the earlier post. I had them in my 67 for yrs. So before you speak, you better know what your saying.
The seats changed mounting later in life. The seats got narrower as time went on. The adjusting slots are on the outside (Toward the doors). The 72/73 seats were on the inboard side, so that's why they go in opposite sides. I had to make brackets for the 84 911 seats to fit, and run power to them for the power adjustments. Funny though, the rears are a perfect fit.. lol Here are the 72/73 seats in the car. I told 72002 to make me an offer. I also have a full set of used black carpet, a console from an 84 911, some 84 door panel stuff, and a bunch more odd ball stuff. ![]()

After all this, the easiest way to tell SWB from LWB seats are to look at the bottoms of the seat bottoms; the SWB seats are open underneath with a burlap covering over the springs, the LWB seats have a solid metal pan seat bottom. Simple, very simple. As you can see in this SWB photo the seat lockers are bolted to the outside inner rocker. They are not visible because they are unbolted but clearly there is no lockers on the tunnel. ![]() In this photo of a LWB '69 and later, you see the lockers welded to the tunnel. ![]() Not trying to bunk your sale but get the facts right to an unsuspecting buyer.

Stock or Modified?
There's also the question do you intend to keep your 912 absolutely stock, or modify it if you believe the change is a significant improvement?
-The early 912s weren't required to have headrests, and most early seats don't have them. There were optional headrests available, 356 cylindrical style attaching to the seat backs. -By 1968 with additional U.S. safety requirements, Porsche changed the headrest design to attach to the top of the seat back and rotate, allowing vertical and forward adjustment. -The seat design kept evolving. With the LWB cars the location of the legroom adjustment lever location flipped, and included a shear pin, presumably to strengthen the seat restraint since the outside seat belt anchor plates were relocated from the frame to the seat itself. Reportedly the revised angle/position of the lap belt is an improvement. -The release to allow the seat back to be folded forward for rear seat access was moved from the bottom of the hinge mechanism to the side. -The headrest shape changed once more, higher with a curved leading edge, which can rotate farther forward. Several years ago I purchased a pair of 911S seats about 1972-73 vintage, and as discussed in others' posts, I could not readily slide them off their tracks and onto 1968 stock tracks. However I discovered I could fit the driver's seat to the passenger side, and visa versa. Yes, the seatback angle levers are above the center tunnel and almost touch, and the seat back releases are also in the center. But personally I would take the later seats any day of the week over a 1968 seat with no headrest. My $0.02

I have a guy that does all my interiors. he works out of his home (his day job is for a restoration shop in watsonville ca) he is great and priced right. you would have to get him your parts and he will digest them, reproduce them, and get them back to you. he has the ability to get the metal guts powder painted and looking like new, rebuild the back seats, rebuild the door panels and back deck with out having to buy the blanks from other venders. his dash work is excellent. so, if you are able to ship your parts he can do wonders. an example--dash in leather under $300. pm me if you want to contact him.
