Three or Four cylinders?
Hello guys.
Back at this car again. I have tried all of your good solutions but to no avail. I have put the blue stuff on the carbs tried to synchronize them but it seems that I just get nothing from cylinder one. When I pull off the plug wire on the distributor all cylinders show a noticable loss except for one. Absalutely nothing changes. What would result in a cylinder not working. I have pulled the plug and it is firing to the plug. Am I looking at a burnt valve? That is all I can think of? Any help would be appreciated. |

Just because you have spark with the plug out of the head connected to the end of the plug wire doesn't mean it will get enough of a spark under compression. I would try a new plug or at very least swap the plug with one you know is working properly and see if the problem moves. Same can be true for plug wires, tired old wires will have too much internal resistance and not provide enough spark. And you can't tell with a visual inspection if a wire is good or not.
These engines are realatively simple - gas, compression, spark.... Good luck! |
