912s in Dana Point

The 356 Club was kind enough to invite the 912 registry to its car show at Lantern Bay park in Dana Point, CA. We had about 20 912s show up - most of the SoCal regulars, and a couple of new ones. I took a couple pictures of the 912s in a row, and a couple of my ride home. The white targa next to my silver 68 belongs to 912 registry webmeister Rick Becker. The white coupe next in the foreground of the second picture, and in the mirror of the last picture, is John Benton's (mein12).

Hi Bob, Yes those were your rings. lol

And Efrain, I thought we got going faster then that. By the way, thew only reason I was in your mirror was because I slowed to let the rest of our party catch up.

What a blast though, JMB

John, you went faster than that. Your car tends to accelerate a bit quicker than mine. And oh sure, just tell everyone that you left Graem and I in the dust.

Hi,

That's Efrain's car. He has really tall tires with 16's. My car is a whole different story.
Regards, JMB

Craig-

I have a Z 5th gear with 205 55 tires on 16 inch wheels. The whole setup is about a half inch taller than stock. I could have gone with a 914 5th gear to really lower my crusing revs, but it would have killed my 5th gear acceleration. Actually, to competitively time trial the car, I'd probably get a set of 15 x 6 cookie cutters with 205 50 tires, as even with the 1720 motor it takes longer than I would like to accelerate in 5th.
