Rendezvous - EAST?
Any east coast (or midwest, or anywhere other than west for that matter) 912 guys interested in having an east coast 912 Rendezvous?
There is a lot of discussion about it at bay912.org, and seeing all of them together was way to cool to only do in one place.

I am all for it in the Washington/Baltimore area. You guys on the West coast are lucky, as there seem to be more 912s per square mile than on the rust prone East coast. We do have some great driving roads in the nearby Blue Ridge Mountains.
Summit Point race track is a nice hour drive as well. perhaps we could set up a drive to Summit when there is a Porsche event going on? I bet that Brett (adot) might be up for one as well. |

Kurt, I think Brett sold his 912 earlier this week.

I live in Asheville NC and my 912 is ready to roll!
Currently using free 802.11b access in Denver International, but I'll be home soon. Why don't we plan a 912 meeting? I leave for Antarctica on 8 October, get married on 28 September, and head to St. John VI for honeymoon, but any time prior to that is great for me - in fact, I could use the reason to forget about life a bit and drive Bitta ![]() Who wants to set a date? Where? When? So what if only 3 or 4 of us show up? It's a start. Dean aka bmwloco |

I'm heading to Watkins Glen Sept 5-8 in my 12, but I'm up for a meeting even if it's only for the day. We can organize a week-ender for next year or later in the fall.

Hi All,
Washington DC would be a fun place to have an East coast Rendezvous. The only problem is the traffic is the worst year round! How about something a little less congested? Maybe something along the Virginia shore or closer into central VA in the mountains? I live in NY and think that VA would be a good central spot for East coast and mid-Atlantic folks. Bill |

One of the great things about the West Coast Rendezvous was the fact that Solvang is a fairly remote location, and our drive went through wine country. Not much other traffic, and extremely scenic.

How about Virginia, around Charlottesville. I drove through there last summer and a tour up into the Blue Ridge Mountains would be awesome. It is also centrally located for the North and Southeast. Might even get some coming in from the Midwest.

The Washington traffic that everyone hears about is in and around the city and close in burbs. 45 min outside of the city center are many GREAT twisty winding country roads. I live inside the beltway and there are even some nice roads 3 min from my house. Going west from here it starts to get good in about 15 min and then all the way into the mountains.
It would be easy to set up a drive that started from just outside the infamous beltway that wound around the mountains and foothills stopping at a good country inn for a dinner. I have been on many in the past. The best part is there are many excellent country roads that have little traffic and even less cops. The only place to worry about radar is on the highways. In the little towns you want to drive slow in the towns just to see them anyway. If we can grub up enough folks and set a date I can plan a day trip (120 miles or so) that will be a fun drive with a good meal at the end. How about Sept 21 or 22? |

Green 912, I'm game for anything, however we are expecting the birth of a grandchild on or around that time and may be heading to Birmingham, AL. (down around Cary's neck of the woods). If possible I'm in.

Great idea, guys .......... Howard, congratulations on the new grandchild. Our boy is 3 (daughters son) and LOVES cars, especially the 912E. Susie and I live in Pennsylvania which also offers some great areas for a get together. Hershey comes to mind near Harrisburg, and someone last week mentioned the Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix. This past July had Porsche as the main marque and I videotaped the parade. The PVGP is a week long event with racing on the weekend. It would be great to have a flock of 912's in the car show area. Anyway let's keep to conversation going and we are very much interested. I have not seen any recent posts from Dave Cardone, but Dave has a 912 also and is located in Pittsburgh not far from me.

Rich G, That was me that suggested PVGP as a possible site for a rendezvous next year. I was there this year for the first time. I'm up for a meeting this fall, even if its just for one day. Sept is pretty busy, but anytime after would be good.

LET'S DO IT TO IT! I'm in College Park, MD right where 95 hits the top of the Beltway. I proposed a 912 BBQ at my place some weeks back, but it fizzled after only two responses. That offer still stands...
As for a Cruize/Rendezvous, Sept 21-22 works for me (or any weekend in Sept for that matter). If this Rendezvous is for real, let's get organizized: 1) Establish a Date and a Minimum Number of Confirmed Participants (before we expend Work and Planning) 2) Establish what/where we're going to do. Like I said, I can host a BBQ, but a Rendezvous I cannot plan. (Green912 ???) 3) Make a list of all the interested partys' email addresses (mine's quanto@erols.com) ...just my three cents. |

There is going to be an East Coast Pelican Head, all Porsche fun run on Sept 22, starting in Herndon VA that will be going West into the foothills of the Blue ridge mountains. 10 to 15 Porsches already set to go including at least 1 green 912. The details haven’t been finalized but the plan is something like 90 min run out and in the twisty stuff, stop for some eats and then back.
I will post info when it is finalized. Who wants to go? BTW...Don't worry about running with 911s, they don't know how to drive them! ![]() |

Green 912, I'm game but could have to cancel at the last minute due to impending 1st birthday of my son's 1st child (due 0n the 21st, but you know how that goes). Post details when you get them.

My car won't be running for another few months, but when it is, I'm definitely up for meeting with other 912 fans. I'm in Charlottesville, and agree that it is a beautiful place to meet/drive, but I'm game for any location.
